You don't actually need to be doing this to your hair...

💇🏻‍♀️Newsflash: you don’t need to be constantly washing, and wet-styling your hair in order for it to grow and be healthy. When I started following a historically inspired hair care routine 7 years ago, my hair was chin length and had never been able to grow very long or healthy. Now, my hair is nearly down to my thighs, and very healthy indeed. Lately, I have only been washing it once a month!

💕Did you know that historical people were pros when it came to dry-cleansing hair? Yes, you heard that right. It is possibly to clean hair when it is completely dry. One of the main ways historical people did this was by using boar bristle brushes, special combing techniques, and generally keeping the hair in protective styles or entirely covered.

💕If I had not have made this mindset shift, I would not have been able to grow my thick, curly hair this long. In fact, I probably wouldn’t have even wanted to grow my hair this long if I was continuing the high-maintenance routine of my “curly girl” years.

And if you are wondering, “what’s the point of growing long hair if you wear it up all the time?” My next video is actually about that VERY topic! Stay tu

You look so perfectly in your female energy, a lovely dress, thick luscious hair and beautiful face. I'm buying more dresses and ditching the pants

THANK YOU!! I used to wash and condition my entire head, root to tips, at least once a week, twice in the summer, and could never understand why my hair wasn't growing fast enough despite using hair growth oils pre-washing.

I think it's easy to say, but depending on your hair type it's just not reality for everyone. I have super fine hair that gets super greasy super fast. Like my day 2 hair is gross and I need to at least wash my bangs or I look like I'm trying out for a 1950's street gang. My ends do get dry but a conditoner plus an occasional mask really helps. I tried hair oil but again I'm just too greasy, even if it's just on my ends. Not to mention I work in a hospital. While I wear my hair up I change ALOT of beds and god knows what's in my hair- C Diff poop, C19 you name it. While I have friends who can go a week or more, I just can't. I even tried to 'train' it before and gave up after a month of having to still wash my bangs and having a greasy bun 24/7.I take vitamins and use a biotin heat protectant, works great I've seen way less breakage. While I wish EVERYONE could skip washes it's just not true for alot of us.

Beautiful dress, and beautiful hair... but yes, find a comfortable length, you can work with while doing all the other things that must be done... Children and family, household, beautiful sewing and beautiful hair, working to do videos... You can only keep it up so long... I know.❤

I watch as many of your videos that I can. I love how you have embraced so many things from times long past. I must ask, would all these recommendations for cleansing, etc. also work on gray hair? Gray is very different texturally and tends to be perpetually dry and frizzier than pigmented hair. As an older person, my hair is also thinner and doesn't respond the same to products like it once did. Any thoughts? Thank you. 😊

Sometimes long hair can be a lot of work. I know that you must be very busy with your family. Taking a break from the demands of being a haircare professional might be a good idea…. You have my support and best wishes along your journey.❤

The PSA the world always needs to hear. Of course, my situation is different and I have cropped hair for that reason. If I ever got to grow my hair out I would let it be more often than not :)

I guess a truth is, what is the purpose of hair and biologically hair is partly there to keep you cleaner. Seeing how they use hair to soak up oil spills it shows the immense ability of hair to hold oils.

Question; how do you get your curls to not turn poofy and frizzy as soon as your hair dries without product? Is it the rhassoul clay?
