WHAT IT IS: A plant-based meat alternative with a stretchy meat-like texture and appearance.
HOW IT'S MADE: The starch is rinsed away in wheat dough, leaving just the high-protein gluten behind.
HOW IT'S PRONOUNCED: Seitan = "SAY-tan" (not like 😈)
OTHER NAMES IT GOES BY: wheat protein, wheat gluten, wheat meat
SIMPLE RECIPE: We buy it pre-made, crumble it up, and season it while cooking. In this case, we used a little bit of raw sugar, rice vinegar, and tamari.
I wasn't sure how Beyond would react to it, but he grabbed it and started tearing it up 🤷🏽♀️ It has a ton of protein, so I only let him have a little bit from my plate and then he filled up on veggies afterwards.
