Some âfather-modelsâ are helpful, others hurtful & damaging. Our natural dads are not the standard for which we are reaching. Christian fathers are called to model Jesus Christ to their wives, sons and daughters. He is the standard. They are to be His disciples and to make disciples, first of those in their own households qualifying themselves as candidates to become proven leaders in their churches.
Their homes and families are to be their place of proving. Ruling well over their own households, being faithful in their marriages, and having their children in subjection is to proceed being given or accepting a leadership role in the church. Why? Because Spiritual fathers are also models and examples who are either helpful or hurtful to the family of God.
