I leave butter out for weeks, sometimes over a month and haven't died yet. Soft butter everyday.

You should’ve spread it on untoasted bread to really test its softness

Try spreading it on untoasted bread. That's the true spread test.

Anything that requires more dishes to wash is the opposite of a hack

I like that. I’ve always just put a stick on the counter in a butter holder thingy. It works very well, but make sure to use the whole stick before it goes bad. Takes a long time to go bad btw.

I feel like these are also good for people who have low dexterity (the elderly, those with a lack of hand coordination, etc). Cutting into hard objects is more difficult than using a common tool to scrape. Good stuff.

Just always leave some out on the counter or in a cabinet. Side note. Does anyone have butter trays with covers anymore?

The grater has more surface area and less volume, which'll heat it up super fast and leave it real soft, even if friction didn't heat it up.

I generally just leave my butter out to keep it soft. But if I ever have to use cold butter I just use a garlic press.

Just "draw" (or rub) on the toast with the butter like a large crayon. Leave some of the wrapper on so you can hold it without getting butter on your fingers.

For those who dont know, salted butter is ok to leave out because salt is a natural preservative. Unsalted is ok to leave out but will spoil quicker. Neither will spoil in the fridge

I have a set of heavy old-fashioned bowls when microwaved hold heat. I threw the empty bowls in the microwave for about two minutes. I use a oven med to take them out, if I even do. It all depends on what I'm doing. But at night before I go to bed I often will take a bowl put it in the microwave heat it for two minutes. And then I take two sticks of butter And throw it in the bowl, by morning I have clarified butter after I get up get ready, grab spoon and ladle off the way byproduct. When I have solid stick butter, I like to grate the butter when I want to add it directly to a product or one to soften quickly for spreading. No peeling the butter probably works great for making piecrust.

Ok the peeler is genius. But I've been trying to make thin slices with the butter knife for 30+ years now and am an expert at it at this point so I'm seeing this 30 years too late😢

The peeler is a great hack for charcuterie board cheese slices 😉

I use Chef John's method: microwave 4 seconds, flip, 4 seconds, flip, 4 seconds, flip, 4 seconds. Ready to rock. If gets slightly too melty, just wait a little longer during the flip stage, like 10 seconds.
