Good leaders know to treat their people right because they know they can't do it without them.

I’m retired now but I worked for a personal injury attorney for 11 years. I saw him become a multimillionaire. As he became richer, he also became more greedy. Freezing pay, no longer offering health insurance, tiny bonuses, eliminating the SEPP retirement plan. He almost never worked. Came in at 10am. Went to lunch at 11:30 and returned at 1:30pm. Went home at 3:00. Most days he was high on Xanax or something similar. And was always bragging about all the things he owned and how much money they cost. What an a$$ wipe. But here’s the funny part. We are the same age. I’m retired and he still has to go to that hell hole. 😊 Thanks. That made me feel better

I was 20 years old in ‘73 when I started at U.S. Steel Corp. near Pittsburgh and spent 38 years of my life there. From the day I started until my retirement in 2011 the management mindset hadn’t changed since the Carnegie / Frick days so long ago. Until someone deliberately reforms that management style, it will continue, and that is a damn shame.

How about as a general mantra, treat "the other" as if you are "the other". You do not need a management word du jour. We are experiencing general disengagement across many ecosystems. Cheers!

This something very foreign to the attitudes of business today. The proliferation of temp, contract and other non permanent work tells us that since the day that employees became “human capital” or essentially dehumanized work producers, companies of every kind now treat employees as completely exploitable and dispensable. That is today’s work world. The only exceptions are for union workers or the precious few who actually have bosses who value their employees and their contributions.

Everybody's already got families and friends waiting for them at home. People want to be paid a rate comparable to inflation and get back to the lives they're working to pay for.
