Should you EQ before or after your reverb? πŸ€”

On my reverb bus, I find that using high and low EQ cuts before my reverb produces a more natural sound, rather than cutting after the reverb has been applied.

After sounds way better lol. Though i always high pass before, i high cut after. The lowcut before gives me control of the distance. Low pass after controls the space. You have to consider what your main goal is with reverb. Are you creating a space or is it your goal to add thickness. Then consider cohesion!

Before and then use the eq in your verb plugin to tighten it. Also instead of a high cut like he’s doing. Use a high shelf at around -6-9 db for vocals. Use a high cut for instruments

I would say it depends on the sound your after cause they both sound fire but that's just my opinion

Correct. I we look at the physics of reverb, we see that it's actually a replica and duplicat of the sound wave but delayed (and filtered/eq depending on the desired reverb/plate/room effect). That means reverb is better controlled if the eq is applied before it is duplicated in reverb.

I have always put the high and low cut EQ after the reverb. I’m gonna switch it around now

Usually the signal will be going through the filters first. Saw a bit from Pensado a few years back suggesting it so I gave it a whirl.

I do Both but this got me thinking that I am to adjust more beefier then after. Depending on the reverb i am using. Simply to get rid of artefacts that I don’t like about the reverb/ also that is why I do both. Also trying out some new algorithms and samples for sample reverbs doing the job better in aspect of the reflective freq. bla bla bla πŸ˜‚ cheers you always make great videos and shorts her on the tube ❀ x

I never had a preference or even thought about this. I'll try the before method and most probably will stick to it, as it makes sense
