Never forget him, bro was not only a legend but also the only Iron warrior who became a bff with an Imperial fist. Their broship is not even surpassed by the likes of Argel-Tal and Kharn or corvus and vulkan
Edit: Girlymane also spoke at his funeral, crowning Dantioch as a "Champion amongst Heroes" and he didnt save the primarchs, but the "Imperium Secundus" which included all the mentioned primarchs and their legions + the 500 worlds of Ultramar

I swear it's hard to convience new people to get into this GIANTIC franchise of books, but that line hits so hard because the Lion is ABSOLUTELY right. I know some people don't like call backs like this because it's seen as "fan servicey" but I think its because moments like that were so significant that it deserves to get shouted out even after all this time in universe by those who would actually remember it.

The Lion isnt aware of the fact that He's effectly bought Dantioch's legend back to life as neither his name nor his deeds survived into the 41st Millennium.
Even the location he was cremated at was only known as "The Site of the Traitor Redeemed" and those who knew of that got wiped by the nids.

I really ended up liking the lion in his old age cause the lion to me is like the emperor where it took a lot but in the end they end up becoming more human after losing so much

The sad thing is that, before Lion's return, nobody remembered Dantioch. Not even his memorials bore his name, erased by time and erosion. There was a legend about a loyalist warsmith but no one knew who he was.

The thing I like most of Lion's character development is that he's still just as absolutely dedicated to his mission, still just as adamant in his devotion to cleansing the universe so that humankind can live safe and free.
The change is that he no longer behaves like literally everyone else alive only exists to fulfill that goal. Poetically he's learned that loyalty, like respect, is earned and it makes me appreciate the character so much more because of it.

The loyalists of the traitor legions are the most badass and respectable characters in all of Warhammer. Even millennia later they are still remembered.
