I love authors who has put some high level knowledge into their stories and play it out correctly. Not like some dumbo dude who gave out a random military tactics that somehow works 100% with no casualties.

The Divine Eye is actually quite a clever convenience of story telling for Farma to be able to diagnose symptoms from a modern perspective despite the fact that the potential patients would likely not be cooperative due to his age and/or methodology being so non-standard for their world. All of his knowledge would be difficult to lean on if he couldn't examine or interview a patient to gather information in the manner he has been trained to. The Divine Eye solves that problem for him straight away.
