In Australia, Calypso and Bowen mangos are both very common and very decent tasting - most people prefer Bowen. R2E2 are a cheaper variety that tend to be larger, less tangy with almost a melon flavour.

If you ever get the opportunity, try karuththa kolomban mangoes from Sri Lanka. It's one of the best, juicy, non stringy mangoes. We have a whole lot of different mangoes btw

If it "just tastes like a mango" then it isnt anything special. They can taste like so many different things. Pina colada, coconut, key lime, peach and so on. So happy I live in a place where I can grow my own!

Try Himam Pasand type from India. Banganapalli is another good along with Alphonso. India is THE mango heaven. For $16 you can get 4 kgs or so.

I like the little yellow ones called Atoulfo mangoes best, to be honest, they are less fibrous, and very sweet and creamy tasting.
