Lot of people nitpicking and missing the point. Yeah, you can hurt yourself manipulating a Garand. That's true of almost any gun, the Garand isn't actually special in this regard. I pinch myself between magazine bases and the bottom of the grip on pistols all the time.

My only garand thumb injury was as a ROTC highschool student doing a manual of arms inspection of an M-1 with very cold hands. Undoubtedly there was poor instruction involved. I have the scar to this day 45 years later. We did lots of things with those drill rifles that I would never do with one I owned.

Nothing like a millennial that has never done anything but fire an M1 for target practice telling us that a well know issue with the gun doesn’t exist. Even more, he act like it’s a life threatening issue and not just a really painful one that can cause blistering. Gotta love these YouTube clowns.
