Phyliss Morris had more stuff than space. Her home is simply not big enough to house all the items she had, so she purchased a storage unit.

“There was a lot,” Morris said.

About four years ago, Morris rented a storage space to keep all her items safe. The unit worked out perfectly at first. A couple of years ago, a new company purchased the storage facility and Morris said she was sent a new lease to sign.

Again, everything seemed to be working out fine. Morris paid her monthly rent on time and the items were kept safe. Then, last year, Morris went by her unit to pick something up.

“I was just in shock. I drove around thinking I was in the wrong row of storage facilities,” Morris said.

That happened to my sister & I. Somebody marked the wrong locker only it was auctioned off The ppl that bought it owned a secondhand store. We had at least $10k worth of scrapbooking items, all our xmas decorations, including family heirlooms. Generations worth of family photos. A handcarved rocking chair we in our family for nearly 100yrs, and more. In the end, we only got the photos back and whatever heirlooms they thought they couldnt sell. Dont get me wrong, we were happy to get those irreplaceable, sentimental items back. But my heart still aches over what we lost and why. Like my belly cast from my pregnancy w/my first born. I had 7 pregnancy losses before I had her. She was the first one to make it to term. I cant replace that. 😢 It was so fckd up that they can do that. Sorry to hear its still happening

They weren’t thrown out they were stolen. They should be arrested and charged and sued.

This happened to me...this video is triggering...they took everything...some girl showed up at my house with my 8th grade diary...we had it insured for 25,000. We fought them and it took more than 20 years and we had to settle for 7,500. I'm still bitter & trying to heal. Don't ever put anything that means something to you in a storage facility...never!!

I would sue for all those monthly storage payments too. Why would you have made those payments to keep your stuff if you didn't get to keep your stuff. So property value and all past payments for sure.

I had this happen too. Outside storage units are the worst. And never trust your landlord to send notice. Constantly check your online billing a view your unit weekly. If need be, install motion activated wireless/5G camera with GPS in your unit. It will notify you went the unit is opened or breached

Horrible! So sorry to those who had their items stolen from them. So sad.

As someone who has insider information on how storage places work, whoever was working likely took anything of value and dumped the rest.
