The King

I built a time machine to see you again
To hear your phone call your voice down the hall the way we were back then
We were dancing in the rain
Our feet on the pavement
You said I was your second head
I knew exactly what you meant

So tell me
Before we get older let’s do everything
You’re scared of when it’s over
you’re still young and you’re still free

I want to be the king of your heart
Let’s fall apart and start again
You’ll see the end of me

I built a castle far away in the sand
We were higher than we knew with nothing to lose
Until it washed away in our hands
And you said you could never love again
Well it must’ve been fate then
Cos I know exactly how it ends

So tell me
Before we get older let’s do everything
You’re scared of when it’s over
you’re still young and you’re still free

I want to be the king of your heart
Let’s fall apart and start again
You’ll see the end of me

I wanna be the king
(I’m the king, I’m your king)

I wanna be the king

I know Olivia rodrigo is crazy in the spot light right now, and not to be negative towards liv but like this deserves the hype, even more!!! Her vocals, the musical composition... not sure if i would even put them in the same category but WOW

okay, picture this: it’s nearing 5pm and you’re getting ready for the carnival that has made its way to your local fairground. you were invited to spend the late evening there with some of your school friends, to celebrate the start of summer vacation. everything’s starting to really fall into place, then you hear the soft rumble of the thunder roll across your head. you glance through the slim gaps between the blinds on your bedroom window to see storm clouds as dark as the denim shorts you’d chosen to wear earlier that morning. majorly bummed out, you sit at your desk and skimp down in your chair. minutes collect as you scroll through social media, until your attention is stolen away by the piercing sound of rain droplets attempting to reach you through the window panes. you roll your head to the side and let out a sigh, scanning your phone for the weather app. bad turns to worse when the reports show a tropical storm in the area, leaving no time for fun fair activities. more disappointed than dissatisfied, you navigate your way to your music app and search for the name of the song you’d recently heard a snippet of online. the song starts out with an emotional, yet pleasing layer of piano that then eased into a drum beat which forced your eyes closed and into a tight squint. still holding in a breath and doing your best not to punch the wall in front of you, you stand up and walk to the center of your room. seconds later, you feel and hear the synth come in. a single chill ripples down your spine as you begin to rock back and forth, getting lost in the sound. the vocals, the instrumentation, the production... they all suck you in and it’s clear they have no intention of letting you go. soon, the chorus arrives and you spin around with your arms out wide and your eyes tracing circles on your ceiling. you station yourself in the center of your room and close your eyes once again before finally lying down on your back, comfortably in your bed. similar to how violent waves crash on the shore, the storm outside of these walls does what it’s intended to do. however, it’s not that simple, it’s not that transparent. it’s an opaque view of a strange sensation. everything is not fine. nothing is fine. but it is beautiful. you do in fact end up making it to the fair that night, riding every ride possible and doubling down wherever you can. sure, the rides were wet and your clothes got soaked, but that just made it even more real. nothing was left to be said. ... that was what happened to me yesterday, all the way down to the finest detail. totally and completely worth it.

The build-up of the song is pure euphoria and just the overall vibe is amazing by itself. This is the kind of song I could write an entire novel to while wearing a wedding dress and headbanging. So many aesthetics in one glorious bundle.

I am begging someone to mash this up with “Make Me Your Queen” by Declan Mckenna.

Okay but Mitski and Sarah would be a collab I’d give my life for. I can’t even explain their styles. But it’s like an all in one.😩
