Absolutely, yes! It makes the game that much more of an experience. Because of thalassophobia, I've never played a game like it. Constantly on edge, especially in the biomes with deep waters. 3. NAbberman. • 3 yr. ago.

Grab your seaglide, save, and zoom around the kelp forest for a bit. You'll notice pretty quickly that you can easily outrun and dodge stalkers, and they'll stop being so scary. Then, push out into the grassy plateaus and do the same thing with the sandsharks. Practice keeping an eye on your oxygen.

I wouldn't say this game is your typical type of scary. It's more of an opressive experience at times. However, there is one area that is definitely designed in a way so it invokes the fear you're talking about, an extreme fear of deep abysses of water. It is exactly that, a deep dark abyss. I don't have any water related fears, but the game

Subnautica DOES NOT have an auto save feature, if you die without a previous save or your ship gets blown up without a previous save then you have to play like that and rebuild your ship. I had a seamoth almost fully decked out with modules and I forgot to save before going to search for something and I ended up meeting some unfriendly beings.

In the end, it's really up to you. Like I said, I haven't played Subnautica yet, but Soma does have some segments that take place in the open abyss, and they do get both claustrophobic and agoraphobic at the same time; the former because the world is DARK, and the latter because of the sense of scale around you.

Even if you don't have thalassophobia, you're still going to get scared by something. This game could be great for getting over fears. ... Yea, they do say that to overcome a phobia, you need small doses and see that they don't hurt you. Subnautica is pretty good in that aspect. Tell them there is a God mode and it should help. #5. After all that is done, get to the floating island asap. Check online for a map if you're having trouble finding it. Once you're there, try to make your way to the abandoned bases. There are three in total, I believe. Scan all the stuff you can find (don't miss anything!), and grab some purple fruit plants/orange tree fruits while you do that.

I'm pretty sure that anyone that thinks they have thalassophobia because of feelings this game misunderstands the "irrational" part of phobia. This game gives many good reasons to fear and respect the deep. 2.

Yeah subnautica (because this is on r/subnautica) never gave me any fear of deep water it made me want to explore more now I know some people who genuinely have phobias but then I also know people who say hey I have a phobia of this thing when they really don't. 2- build your base in the grassy plateaus, other areas are too dark and even the starting area can be a little disturbing because the kelp vines. 3- always try to move along the sea floor, concentrate your attention in the floor below you and not the void in front or above you. 4- each creature makes a very unique sound, learn to identify them

Didn't get a chance to look around lol. I think there's a not-insignificant group of people on r/thalassophobia who are fond of this game. So I think you can safely say that no, you're not alone, there's a LOT of people who consider this game one of the best horror games on the market. :P.

i would suggest you go to youtube 1st and see others play it, search 'subnautica basebuilding' for some non phobic material, and when you feel you are ready, then seach 'subnautica creatures/monsters'.. if you still arent afraid, then you should go get that game.. its a beautiful experience. but going deeper is a must as some of the material

BioShock is my all time favorite game, but it has very little thalassophobia vibes. Just the beginning moments of the game and a few cutscenes are kinda spooky in terms of fear of the ocean. In BioShock 2, your character does go into the ocean floor area, but it's well lit and beautiful instead of dark, mysterious and spooky.

Mostly I'm in this sub to see cool stuff, I don't feel any dread at big things. Or so I thought until the last time I went back to a city and attended a show in a large theater. So many people together really gives me the heebie jeebies.

So i don't know if this glitch is new , but i have found out that if you want a hell ton of seeds for any plant , if you have a exterior growbed you go and put a full plant in it for Example:- You put a gel sack and hit it 2 times for the seeds ( it breaks at 3 ) and than you take it out and put it again in the growbed it restarts the gel sack

I've followed the instructions for both installations to the best of my ability, including installing on fresh applications of Subnautica and reinstalling both mods. I've checked the log file, and it claims that both Bepinex and the Map Mod are being loaded, but they seem to have no impact whatsoever on my game.
