Even if you can't find a replacement, soldering a through-hole FPC flex cable of the correct pitch is going to be infinitely easier than soldering loose 40AWG wire. I personally think magnet wire is going to give you trouble trying to solder through the enamel while also aiming for the pad without burning something.

Just look at the soldering in your photo. It is much the same as hand soldering a TQFP. Sweep along the pins with plenty of solder and flux. Then tidy up with some desoldering wick. The technique is easier to watch on a tutorial video than to describe in words. Visual inspection for good joints, no bridges.

A hot air gun only if I was using solder paste that's VERY accurately applied - ie a stencil. The inside cut of your aluminium tape for insulation the other components was not cleanly cut where it counts. Cut straight with a ruler and use a spudger to get edge to lay flat. A slightly greater gap from edge to connector pins would be recommended.
