If you're looking for a fast paced FPS shooter with sick ass weapons and super powers, play BioShock. The story is one of the best in video games as well. If you have strong thalassophobia, there is abzu. But i'd recomend a game called Diluvion: resubmerged.

Grab your seaglide, save, and zoom around the kelp forest for a bit. You'll notice pretty quickly that you can easily outrun and dodge stalkers, and they'll stop being so scary. Then, push out into the grassy plateaus and do the same thing with the sandsharks. Practice keeping an eye on your oxygen.

Learning the world, what's safe and what isn't, is part of the game. Also, this game awakens thalassophobia in anybody. Learn to live like a small reef fish. Stick close to cover and the ocean floor, be on the watch for predators overhead, and don't forget to breath.

Try Barotrauma, dark, deep and aliens to boot. Way back on the Gamecube there was a level in Super Mario Sunshine, the one with the waterfall. There's a deep water pool at the bottom of the waterfall. In the level you have dive off the top into the pitch-black water hole with a boss at the bottom.
