Wrapping up 2023 with a brief review of the 148 books I read last year

Reviewing my 2023 reading wrap-up: I read 148 books this year. Some were awesome, some were terrible, but it was a wild ride. Most of my top reads were contemporary, and I binged on J. Mass. But for real, I'm still trying to figure out how to use Goodreads. It's been a trip! 😅📚

The Crossing, Cormac McCarthy☉☆. Cormac McCarthy published his last two novels in the Fall of 2022 and died in the Summer of 2023. Over the last twelve months I've reread pretty much all of his novels (going through a fourth or fifth reread of Suttree just a few weeks ago). The Crossing is one of his best, and it might be understood as

Last Book Read in 2023. Heartstopper: Volume Five by Alice Oseman. I was surprised by how things went for me in 2023. A few times, reading just wasn't something I wanted to do. But it did help me get through a challenging place as well. And because of that, I will be eternally grateful for books.

2023 Reading Wrap Up // Highest number of books read since 2020

https://theliteraryhuntress.wordpress.com/2024/01/07/2023-reading-wrap-up-highest-number-of-books-read-since-2020/
Hello hello, and welcome to my 2023 reading wrap up! Wrap ups are always my favorite type of post to write, as it combines lists + reflections on how my month/year went. 2023 wrap up took a while though- I didn't maintain my tracker well throughout the year and suffer the same problem as with the previous years: the pesky genre classification.

Annual reading recap (and the best books I read): 2023

I get more excited about my Goodreads year-in-review than my Spotify Wrapped, to be honest. My Goodreads year-in-review says I read about 17,000 pages this year, and while some of them were duds, I was easily able to list nine books that I really, really loved over the course of this past year. I definitely read a few disappointments this year.

2023 Reading in Review ... which is a total shock and enjoyed the books that I read for the most part. Here's a wrap up of my reading in 2023: Goodreads reading challenge (note: I actually read 124 books, but a few re-reads don't show up in 2023 and one book wasn't in Goodreads) Number of re-reads: 3. Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews (books #1-4) There have been a few gush posts about this series on this sub this year, and that's how I found it. The first book is the weakest, but once it gets going it's fantastic! These books have a great mix of action, romance and emotional scenes. I love Kate and Curran and their dynamic.

August 2023 Reading Wrap-Up I managed to read and review eleven books this month (a new record!), and overall it was a very good bunch. My top two books of the month were Whalefall and Delicate Condition , and Whalefall is my new favorite book of the year so far, it was that good.

2023 Wrap-Up || Bookish Stats, Goal Check-In, 2024 Goals

https://abookowlscorner.com/2024/01/27/2023-wrap-up-bookish-stats-goal-check-in-2024-goals/
On paper, my 2023 reading actually doesn't look all that great. After 2019 - a horrible year we're just going to put well behind us - 2023 has my lowest count of new books read, ever, and my average rating of around 3.53 is, well, average. I had a few good books, I had a few great books, and I had a bunch of stuff somewhere in the middle.

It sounds to me like you're being far too hard on yourself! You've read 11 books you already owned, you've re-visited some far-away lands (hardly fair to expect yourself to go somewhere new every time), you've read a few great (and long!) classics, and spending time making quilts for children in need is a WONDERFUL way to spend your time, regardless of how it impacts your reading

June 2023 Reading Wrap-Up - Books, Bones & Buffy

https://booksbonesbuffy.com/2023/06/30/june-2023-reading-wrap-up/
June was a pretty good reading month, although I didn't have any runaway five-star hits this month. If I had to pick a favorite book of June, it would probably be The Seven Year Slip, and I can't believe I'm saying that since it's not one of my usual genres!I'm also pleased that I was able to review eight books, because Gods of the Wyrdwood is 640 pages, so technically I read nine

July 2023 Reading Wrap-Up. July was an excellent month, and not surprisingly, very horror heavy! There were a few July releases (The Sun and the Void and A Twisted Love Story) that I wasn't able to fit in, but hopefully I can get to them soon. Otherwise I'm pretty pleased with the month. ... I also REALLY need to read Dead of Winter- I
