While I take that point, the difference is nobody goes in to Judo deluding themselves they are going to learn striking in any shape or form. Most people never even learn that kata that has the Atemi Waza. Karate, on the the other hand, has this weird sub culture of people learning "real karate with secret throws and ground work hidden in kata" that is almost always just really, really bad
