Yep.. If the vacuum/boost line to the WG fails then your boost will spike and likely kill the engine. So keep it as short and robust as possible (less points of failure). The counter argument is that the cheap intercoolers drop a bit of pressure, so running the boost reference from the manifold helps counter that.

Not really. Basically you've either got to plumb everything for a turbo or build a bracket and pulley system for a supercharger. Then you're got to come up with a way to tune it.
