Several rounds of showers and thunderstorms will dump heavy rainfall totals across parts of the Midwest and Ohio Valley later this week, especially during the Wednesday (8/14/24) and Friday (8/16/24) time frame. The heaviest rainfall totals are likely to be focused across parts of Missouri, Illinois, and Indiana. Rainfall amounts could exceed 3 inches in those areas! Flash flooding will be possible.

Tropical Storm Debby is still causing problems, dumping VERY heavy rainfall across the Eastern U.S. this week!

Multiple inches of rain can still be expected for portions of the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, and Southeast over the next few days.

*** ANNOUNCEMENT ***

I apologize in advance, I will NOT be providing a weather forecast video for my viewers today as I'm sick once again with the flu. I woke up this morning hopeful to do a video, but I'm just not able to today. This is the second time this Summer that I've had the flu. I'm hoping to feel good enough to provide a weather forecast video tomorrow, or at some point this weekend, as my mission is to provide detailed, accurate weather forecasts for you folks. Thank you for understanding! I hope everyone has a fantastic Friday!!

*** SEVERE WEATHER UPDATE ***

...OVERVIEW...
A large ridge of high pressure is currently centered around the Four Corners region. The northern periphery of the ridge of high pressure extends from the Northern Plains into parts of the Midwest, and down into the Ohio Valley. A significant cold front will extend across parts of the Great Plains into the Midwest and Great Lakes by Monday. This front will slowly dive southward throughout the day on Monday.

...TONIGHT (7/14/24)...FORECAST CONFIDENCE 8 OUT OF 10...
Northern Plains: Isolated supercell thunderstorms are possible into this evening across the Northern Plains. Coverage of thunderstorms is expected to increase late this evening into early Monday morning. Damaging winds (possibly exceeding 60 mph), large hail (possibly exceeding 2" inches in diameter), and a couple of tornadoes will be possible.

Midwest/Ohio Valley: Rapid thunderstorm development into numerous supercells is expected late this afternoon into early this evening, from Eastern Iowa into Northwest Illinois, and Southern Wisconsin. Rapid upscale growth into a forward-propagating MCS is expected as it progresses east-southeast across North-Central Illinois this evening, eventually progressing into Indiana and parts of Ohio into early Monday morning. Damaging winds (possibly exceeding 60 mph), large hail, and a couple of tornadoes will be possible.

...MONDAY (7/15/24)...FORECAST CONFIDENCE 7 OUT OF 10...
Great Plains: Isolated to scattered coverage of thunderstorms is expected Monday afternoon and Monday evening across parts of the Great Plains. Damaging winds (possibly exceeding 60 mph) and large hail will be possible. The tornado risk is very low with these storms, but I wouldn't rule out a brief tornado spin-up.

Midwest/Ohio Valley: Isolated thunderstorms will be possible early Monday morning, especially across parts of the Ohio Valley. A very dynamic atmospheric environment is expected Monday afternoon/evening, characterized by surface dew points ranging from the middle 70s to around 80 degrees, extreme instability of 4,000 or greater J/kg, and a very robust low-level jet around 60 to 70 knots. ***These atmospheric parameters are notorious for producing destructive, and long-track derechoes across the Midwest and Ohio Valley.*** The development of numerous supercells is expected by mid-to-late afternoon across parts of Iowa into Southwest Wisconsin. Thereafter, rapid upscale growth into a forward-propagating bow-echo is expected across Southern Wisconsin, North-Central Illinois, and into Northwest Indiana during the early-to-mid evening. Then, thunderstorms will progress east-southeast across Indiana and into Western Ohio late evening into early Tuesday morning on a weakening trend. Damaging to locally destructive wind gusts (70 to locally 100 mph), large hail, and a few tornadoes will be possible.

...SUMMARY...
Make sure to have multiple ways to receive severe weather watches and warnings the rest of this weekend and into early next week as numerous waves of severe thunderstorms are probable!
