MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR FELLOW ARCHERS !
WHAT A FUN 3 YEARS THIS HAS BEEN !
When I started, I'd hope for even a hundred viewers every month - and even fewer subscribers...
Now this channel is averaging about 75,000 views per month, over 1.2 MILLION views so far (and a surprisingly-high watch-the-entire-video score!), and nearly 6,100 faithful subscribers !
HOW do I show my gratitude for this kind of participation?
Simple Answer: GIVE STUFF AWAY ;-)
Yup - some of my EXISTING bows - even ones with which I've done well in some state indoor tournaments - are all going to be given away weekly starting New Year's Day !
Now, giving away archery equipment can be interpreted as WEAPONS, so I've got some homework to do before my giveaways begin.

WHO KNEW ???
I'm so so pleased, and humbled and grateful.
Pleased that The VOGTLAND SHOOTING METHOD is gaining traction literally WORLDWIDE :-)
Humbled that even after 2+ YEARS, new visitors & subscribers are posting "thank you's" every weeks :-)
Grateful to all subscribes who have endured (patiently) some of my (occasional) useless tirades ;-)
Year 01 saw this channel grow by only 50 (ONE) new subscribers a month; it took over a YEAR to reach 1,000 subscribers :-O
Year 02 saw this channel suddenly "pick up" an increase to 100 new subscribers a month :-O
Year 03 (not done yet) has seen EXPLOSIVE growth - all summer long I've had 300, 400 and 500 new subscribers a month, hit 1MILLION view, and now I've got 5,500 subscribers - lovers of archery !
Now - for the past several weeks - I'm STRUGGLING to keep up with my comments, but I'm doing my best !
I've also expanded into other "outdoors" stuff - fly fishing (fly casting), sprint triathlon training (for old overweight "Clydesdale" Class guys like me), Tennis, bow hunting and most recently BMW Z3 restorations - a long-lost passion/hobby of mine that's now resurrected !

ALL BEAR RECURVE OWNERS WHO HUNT WHITETAIL DEER - I HAVE A QUESTION FOR YOU:
WHY-oh-WHY did Bear decide it was a GOOD IDEA to fabricate its famous Bear KODIAK MAGNUM bows of the 70's until today comprised of laminated layers, the FRONT-MOST (the one FACING THE DEER) being WHITE ???

IF YOU were a WHITE TAIL DEER and you were looking for DANGER in the woods around you, you'd look for:
1. a pair of WHITE EYEBALLS close together - a PREDATOR staring back at YOU; and
2. a WHITE TAIL positioned VERTICALLY and MOVING - a FELLOW DEER trying to WARN you.
In BOTH of these common scenarios a BEAR KODIAK MAGNUM'S front lamination GETS NOTICED by any deer facing it...
... so WHY did Bear MAKE THIS DESIGN DECISION?

SO I KEPT MY WORD, AND CREATED A POLL ON A POPULAR FACEBOOK ARCHERY GROUP...
In a recent "colorful" exchange with someone (I don't even remember his name - he's not important) I asserted that "9 out of 10 compound archers can't shoot barebow" - well, that got some heated replies !
I responded that neither HIS "chest beating" nor even MY "chest beating" was going to result in THE TRUTH coming out - so I VOLUNTEERED to get THE TRUTH by creating a POLL - the above poll.
HERE are the results below.
What you see is that - unsurprisingly - my seemingly flippant claim turned out to be SURPRISINGLY ACCURATE !
Out of the 55 avid compound archers who responded within an hour of me posting on this VERY popular group, you'll see that the most candid archers had NO trouble responding that they either shoot barebow "FAR WORSE" than their compound, or that (even worse) they "WISH they could shoot barebow as well as compound", which is really saying that their barebow is far worse (my interpretation) than their compound bow shooting.
IF you consider that the only POSITIVE answer "I shoot barebow BETTER than compound" only got 7% of the votes, then MORE than 90% of the compound archers openly accepted that they can't shoot barebow (well).
I'm NOT PROUD of this survey.
For me it's IMPOSSIBLE to interpret this any OTHER way than "BAREBOW is MORE DIFFICULT than COMPOUND". And what frustrates me is that BAREBOW DOESN'T NEED to be difficult. The Keepers-of-the-Barebow-DOGMA are MAKING it difficult by forcing barebow archers to falsely believe there is only ONE "correct", "traditional" way to shoot barebow - THEIR way. And they've literally BRAINWASHED the masses into BELIEVING this dogma.
That's what "dogma" IS - according to Wikipedia:
"Dogma in the broad sense is any belief held unquestioningly and with undefended certainty. It may be in the form of an official system of principles or doctrines of a religion, such as Roman Catholicism, Judaism, or Protestantism, as well as the positions of a philosopher or of a philosophical school such as Stoicism." - - -- Wikipedia
The KEY PHRASE to which everyone should be paying attention is "UNDEFENDED CERTAINTY".
What is MEANS is "EVERYONE will DO what we SAY WITHOUT THINKING and WITHOUT QUESTION."
A dangerous term, that. It's caused more wars (of many kinds) than any other reason in the history of mankind.
And now "undefended certainty" is running amuck in the realm of ARCHERY - particularly in BAREBOW aka "TRADITIONAL" ARCHERY.
Good thing it's only ARCHERY, and not something truly sacred, like FISHING ;-)
MAKE WHAT YOU WILL of the survey, but what it tells me is that MOST (ALL?) COMPOUND ARCHERS WOULD absolutely at least TRY BAREBOW ARCHERY (again?) - IF there was a BAREBOW SHOOTING METHOD which provided the following:
1. MADE SENSE;
2. POSSESSED the same 4 characteristics that make COMPOUND BOWS so bloodly ACCURATE; and
3. COULD - if practiced faithfully - the same performance (accuracy) from (say) 10m to 40m as their COMPOUND BOWS.
GOOD THING that there IS SUCH A METHOD ;-)
