"Normally everyone goes on indulging in thoughts, feelings and imaginations about the external world. Little do people know that every thought is an outcome of thinking process. Thinking has to be done by the thinker. So, thoughts imply thinking and thinker. An action proceeds only from the actor. Actor comes first, then the act and its outcome.
For everything like thinking, feeling, experiencing, enquiring, reasoning, finding, etc., this actor is indispensable. That source, the Subject, is just one ā same for all functions. Once this truth becomes clear, the seeker should reflect only upon that. Then, every time he thinks, feels, experiences, he will also feel the touch of the actor, the Subject, the witness.
Let dwelling on the objects be replaced by that on their one Subject. Let such contemplation become more and more intense and continuous."

"One fails to see that perishable objects (like oneās body and possessions) can never produce eternal happiness. The happiness is always interspersed with unhappiness and misery. The root causes of all unhappiness are desires and expectations. The desire to get what one likes and not wanting to face what one dislikes. Because of desires, the mind ever remains selfish and narrow, dwelling unendingly on meaningless and unnecessary thoughts and imaginations.
Only when one develops one-pointed devotion to the Supreme Lord, and keeps Him in his heart, does the mind transcend all pettiness and agitations. As love for the supreme Lord grows, dispassion towards worldly affairs also increases. The supreme Lord is the one Real existence. He is infinite and universal. He is taintless, changeless and Imperishable."
