Ben has spent the last few months working on a new podcast.

It aims to deliver a curriculum covering the basics of personal finance for Canadian professionals.

The podcast is co-hosted by Dr. Mark Soth, a practicing physician who writes the excellent looniedoctor.ca blog - easily the best personal finance blog resource in Canada for incorporated professionals. Mark was a guest on Rational Reminder back in episode 73.

The episodes cover topics including the relationship between money and happiness, goal setting, the basics of debt, saving, and investing, portfolio management, account types, tax planning, and investing in a Canadian corporation.

There will be weekly episodes every Friday starting next week.

We hope you will check it out!

In this episode, live from the Future Proof Festival, we welcome back Hal Hershfield, Associate Professor of Marketing and Behavioral Decision Making at UCLA Anderson School of Management.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adbOi...

In our conversation, live from Future Proof, we explore the intersection of behavioural economics, financial decision-making, and the potential for AI to enhance financial advisory services through the lens of Hal’s latest research findings.

We explore framing insurance decisions, the impact of generative AI on financial choices, and the often-overlooked realm of end-of-life decisions. Discover why the key to success lies in understanding different consumer segments, how advisors can optimize the frequency of client meetings, and how clients and advisors should be working together. We also unpack the importance of personalized decisions, the value of a decision-making journal, the framework for making the right financial choice, and much more.

As we mentioned in today's episode (227) we are hoping to get lots of feedback from financial services professionals on CE credits.

We would make short courses based on most episodes and get them accredited by IIROC and FP Canada. If there is enough interest, we could look at US accreditation too.

We have done some rough experimentation with a platform and have built out a couple of courses. We have to pay to get these courses accredited, so we would charge for them.

We would also be interested to know if anyone who is not a financial professional would want access to them.

You can check out the (very rough) draft of the platform here rationalreminder-ce.thinkific.com/
