Welcome back to school y'all! 🎉

If you're reading this, you're probably an ambitious student vying for the best grades, participating in many extracurriculars, and trying to optimize for your future.

Ambition is great, but it shouldn't come at the expense of your wellbeing. Here are a few reminders:

🌟 You Are Good Enough

In the era of social media, comparison is inevitable. Trust me, I’ve spent my fair share of time on college admissions forums comparing myself to other students, obsessing over whether my stats or my extracurriculars are "good enough."

But instead of comparing yourself to others, you should compare yourself to yourself. The formula is simple:

- Cast ambitious goals
- Build consistent habits that yield compounding results
- Try to become 1% better each day

This is a wholly internal journey. As long as you can find in you the determination to continually improve, it doesn’t matter what others do—you are good enough.

🙏 Forgive Yourself

Be lenient with yourself when needed. There will be days when you miss a study session, workout, or club meeting. The reason doesn't matter—even "trivial" breaks like dinner with friends are fine.

Being an overachiever doesn't mean grinding 24/7. Small, spontaneous breaks shouldn't be a source of guilt. Just don't let leniency turn into lethargy.

💡 It'll All Work Out

This was my mantra during college. After every rough exam, I reminded myself that everything works out in the end.

In the grand scheme of things, a single bad test score or embarrassing mistake is trivial. The path you end up on may be unexpected, but it's often exactly where you need to be.

How are you planning to take care of yourself this school year? Let me know in the comments! 👇

Yesterday was one of the most inspiring days I've had as a creator.

I was invited to the White House's inaugural Creator Economy Conference, where I had the chance to hear from President Biden himself!

I've been in DC a lot more often over the past year, and it's inspiring to see the government take a stance on the issues that matter most to creators—such as mental health, AI, and pay transparency.

The day kicked off with a series of panels and fireside chats, one of which was hosted by yours truly. I had the honor to speak with Dr. Arati Prabhakar, director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy!

Our conversation centered around AI in the creator space. We talked about regulation to protect artists, ethical guidelines for AI use, and balancing innovation with labor protection.

And right after our talk, President Biden spoke to us about the rapidly growing creator industry and the responsibility we bear in shaping the next generation of media.

I'm leaving incredibly inspired and grateful for YOU ALL who have made this possible through your continued support. Thank you!

(Oh, and before I left, I got a selfie with a special someone...)

We're just over 50% done with 2024. Are you on track to achieve the goals you set for this year?

If not, here are three of my tips. 👇

💪 Embrace Discomfort

I believe that in order to succeed, you often have to do the things you don’t want to do when you don’t want to do them.

Motivation is fickle, and while it’s a great catalyst for action, it alone cannot propel you towards your goals. You need to find inside you the discipline to take incremental, consistent action.

Now here’s the interesting part. As soon as you find the discipline to begin something, chance are it's is easier than expected, maybe even fun.

In other words, motivation is a byproduct of action. The hardest part is just starting.

🌟 Beware of Shiny Object Syndrome

Shiny object syndrome is when you get distracted by new, exciting opportunities and abandon your current projects.

(I suffer from this one a lot, lol.)

You need to develop an unrelenting sense of focus, even as other opportunities come your way. If you find yourself chasing trends or whatever seems most fun in the moment, you’ll never give yourself the time you need to achieve your goals.

🚫 Avoid Zero Days

This is a concept I’ve started embracing recently. A zero day is a day when you make no progress whatsoever towards your goals.

A non-zero day is when you make even the tiniest amount of progress: writing a single line of code, reading a single page of a book, doing a single pushup.

Do everything you can to avoid zero days. Even a tiny amount of progress is better than no progress at all.

What traits do top students have in common?

Here are three that I notice. 👇

🎯 They're Mission-Driven

I think the most successful students are on some sort of mission—whether it’s an academic area they want to dive deeper into, a social cause they want to advocate for, or a sport they want to get really good at.

Early on in high school, they simply choose something and give it everything they have.

🛠️ They're Resourceful

Most top students, no matter how smart, realize they don’t know everything. So they seek help for their projects—whether it's doing a research project, starting a business, or even training for an olympiad.

They're relentless when asking for help and will cold message anyone, which, in my opinion, is a great idea because successful adults *want* to help young people succeed.

📦 They Think Outside the Box

The most successful students, in my opinion, are doing the things that seem a little unusual.

They don’t care about what’s “normal” or what’s appropriate for their age. They simply want to pursue their mission in the deepest and most meaningful way possible.

Question what you think is possible. Think beyond the clubs at your school. Think beyond what people deem appropriate for your age.

I share two other traits in this video! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8lB1...
