Finally doing some statistical analysis of the d10 spinner, sample size of 100. Not only does it easily pass a chi squared test, doing the same thing on the classic d10 I've been using since 1990 shows significant bias!

If you're coming to Open Sauce this weekend, find me in hall C! You can play a very bad version of Asteroids!

Somehow I finished it in time, or at least finished enough to show -- Asteroids: Kessler Syndrome Edition will be at Open Sauce this weekend!

This is the first entry in what I'm thinking might be a line of unfun arcade games, an idea that fills me with a glee I can't quite explain. In this case, it's Asteroids with conservation of mass. You can keep blowing the asteroids into smaller pieces, but they never just magically go away. Nor do your bullets. Oh, and asteroids can collide with other asteroids now. It really does go exponential very quickly!

Taking a short break from running a calibration at work to say: OMG 5000 SUBSCRIBERS

Thanks, everyone!

Turns out releasing a video the day after Christmas isn't a super clever thing to do. So in case you missed it, my last video for 2023 is out!

Some highlights from a video that will be out soon, covering a bunch of the smaller projects I've been working on since summer.

And, wow, we're approaching 5000 subscribers! Any requests for a special video in celebration? Absent that, the next one up will probably be the restoration of an old Geochron map/clock I recently picked up.

I've been working on casting a concrete enclosure for a new kinetic sculpture. After a couple of iterations, I've finally got the rather complicated 4-part form working properly. I'm really happy with how well the threaded screw inserts worked for mounting points, cast directly into the walls.

I will be exhibiting at Open Sauce, July 15-16 in San Francisco! (That's next week.)

I don't know exactly where my booth will be, but look for the Attoparsec sign for a collection of projects lacking in any coherent theme, including: terrible keyboard, Fremen thumper, kinetic sculpture, discrete math Eurorack modules, a toaster unhealthily obsessed with making toast, custom labeller font wheels in unexpected scripts, more kinetic sculpture, and whatever else I cram into the back of the van.

Oh, and new stickers!

Yesterday I picked up the big steel order for my next permanent installation, a kinetic sculpture "Migration" for the Doris Morrison Learning Center in Greenacres, WA. Now the fun part begins!

Got the new (well, 100+ year old, but new to me) shaper into the inner shop tonight. For those who've seen the vertical bandsaw video from last year, I assure you this was much, MUCH less exciting.
