When I was a small boy, I innocently thought that a ā€˜Thespianā€™ was what you called a ā€˜Lesbian with a Lispā€™.
Of course as ridiculous as that sounds, once I were dispelled of such an arcane notion,
I discovered that a Thespian was someone involved in the Storytelling Trade of Theatre & Cinema,
someone who took the Written Word & through the Vortex of their Passions, brought it to life through
their Intellect & Emotions, so that the Shadows that Dance in the Light can be brought into greater
focus before our Eyes & Ears, on the Great Stage that is the Human Mind.
Someone like the great immortal Actor ROD STEIGER,
who this Song was inspired by & lovingly dedicated to.

Sometime last year, the great Martyn Ware & I were asked to participate in a Dolby Atmos Theatre presentation of the Atmos Edition of the 35th Anniversary Remastered Version of ā€˜Introducing the Hardline According toā€™, my initial foray into the Madness to be met within the Mouth of the Lion. It was genially hosted by Mr. Matt Everitt.

Iā€™m not by nature of the variety of humanity that basks comfortably within the shaded groves of nostalgia, nor one for whom the past holds much beyond the ghosts that haunt what formidable shapes are left behind in which the corruptions of rust & regrets often hold sway. But some trips down memory lane are often inevitably necessary in order to retrieve & revive the reveries of those roses that persist even in the ruins.

For even in the dampened drains life remains.

What transpired on this particular day in London that mattered to me most, was the opportunity it presented for me to reanimate my gratitude for what having collaborated with Martyn Ware provided, an entry into a life for which I not only still must bear the consequences of, but a Master Class in the Art of Production which Iā€™m still catching up to.

Having chosen him as my partner in the process was by far the most fortuitous decision that Iā€™ve yet been called upon to make regarding my work & thankfully for all of us concerned he gave of his time to illustrate the moments that could be recalled & shared after all that has transpired between THEN, the ā€˜Innocent Ageā€™, & NOW, the Age of Benevolence & Benediction where reminiscence colludes with the Prevalence of Fiction.

On behalf of myself & all of us at TreeHouse Publishing we hope that you enjoy this discussion. Iā€™d also like to thank Sony UK, the place where I matriculated (though after having consulted with a physician, & prescribed the proper medications, thankfully my ā€˜matriculationsā€™ have cleared up quite nicely), for their efforts of behalf of this project. As well as those who took a chance on ā€˜your boyā€™ all of those precious Summers & Springs ago when the Moon blessed my dreams with so many wonderful things.

Grazie Molte,

CIAO !
To celebrate its 35th anniversary, weā€™ve released a digitally remastered and Spatial Audio edition of ā€œIntroducing The Hardlineā€ SanandaMaitreya.lnk.to/HardlineYA

Sanandaā€™s Poem:

Reintroducing The Hardline According To Sananda Maitreya (The Hardline at 35)

After thousands of songs written
& hundreds recorded & published
& before the dawn of Post Millennium Rock,
(& the rubble of other rubbish)
We return to the scene of the crime
For which we are still serving time on the clock,
The apple of the original sin
Where we are now on the outside looking in
To where it all began
To where the concrete was poured
& the foundation of our future set
To which our life owes a debt
Launching a thousand ships
As many hips & moistened lips
That May outlive us yet
For if rust never sleeps
Then neither does the past
Upon whose frame it leaps
Upon whose doubts it withers
Tempering the times weā€™ve met
With regrets surpassed
By vows to keep
& more graces to deliver
Veni Vidi Vici
Eenie Meenie Miny Mo
I caught a tiger by the tail
& it refused to let me go.
Take from this what you will
Take the cup & let it spill
While the calendar has
More time to kill
& more fables than those
We know.
