Happy 16th birthday to WWDC 2008! Yeah, there was no recent WWDC that happened on June 9, so I had to go back 16 whole years. In fact, this WWDC happened before I was even born, so you can guarantee that I have zero attachment to this event. However, that’s not to say that the event wasn’t insignificant. This WWDC saw the announcement of the iPhone 3G, the App Store, iPhone OS 2.0, and OS X Snow Leopard. The App Store proved to be vital, and OS X Snow Leopard is regarded by some as the best version of OS X, being a very stable release.

Happy 9th birthday to WWDC 2015! I was not interested in Apple at this time, so I don’t have any personal attachment to this event. At this keynote, we got iOS 9, OS X El Capitan, watchOS 2, and most importantly, Apple Music. There were a few jokes from Craig in this event, and I found it pretty strange that the iOS 9 beta originally had a different wallpaper which was shown in the event, but never came to the final version. I appreciate just how Apple Music has grown over the years, and I love using it every day. It’s also even better now that Spotify has just raised their prices.

Happy 3rd birthday to WWDC 2021! This event was pretty insignificant out of all the recent Apple events, and I rarely come back to watch this event. With this event happening right after WWDC 2020, which was absolutely massive with iOS 14, watchOS 7, macOS Big Sur, and the Mac transitioning to Apple Silicon, this event felt underwhelming. However, we did get iOS 15, which brought some quality of life improvements to iOS 15, iPadOS 15, macOS Monterey, and watchOS 8. I also switched to using a Mac during the time of macOS Monterey, so it does hold a special place in my heart.

Happy 2nd birthday to WWDC 2022! This is one of my favorite Apple events ever. Every single part of this event was immaculate. Of course, we got iOS and iPadOS 16, macOS Ventura, watchOS 9, and the redesigned M2 MacBook Air, but we also got a whole slew of Craig memes. Remember that one with a slo-mo of Craig running, Craig making the floor levitate, Craig shooting a basketball all across Apple Park, and Craig walking into the wrong room? Anyway, I was sick while watching this event, which meant that I couldn’t scream my guts out, but I did get to stay home from school and watch it live!

Happy 1st birthday to WWDC 2023! I feel like this event happened yesterday, and it was one hell of an event too. We got an upgraded Mac Studio and Mac Pro, iOS and iPadOS 17, macOS Sonoma, a completely redesigned watchOS 10, and of course, the elephant in the room, the Vision Pro. I have a reaction video on my drive that you’ll probably never see, but I was going insane throughout so many parts, like the Mac Pro announcement.

Happy 6th birthday to WWDC 2018! Honestly, it’s hard to believe that this keynote happened 6 whole years ago. The event was pretty minor, but it was the event that got me interested in Apple. In this event, we got iOS 12, macOS Mojave, and watchOS 5. I didn’t start using a Mac until 2022, so I found it pretty surprising that Apple brought Dark Mode to the Mac before the iPhone and iPad, considering that implementing Dark Mode is much more difficult on a Mac than it is for an iPhone.

And the one-week countdown begins. For this year's WWDC countdown, I'm gonna be celebrating the birthdays of various past Apple Events. With that being said, happy 5th birthday to WWDC 2019! This event was brilliant in so many different ways. The neon artwork for it was a complete vibe, dark mode came to iOS, the new cheese grater Mac Pro was revealed, the Pro Stand gained a ton of memes (and will always be a stupid product), and we got the name iPadOS! Sharing a personal story, when this event happened back when I was in 4th grade, I got off the bus and just started booking it back home because I could not wait to see the keynote and know if my 1st generation iPhone SE would be supported for iOS 13. WWDC 2024 could have happened today, but we must suffer another week, sadly.

wwdc24 can either be the best thing since sliced bread or the biggest disappointment in the history of mankind.
