Well, the ol 'superglue + toothpick' trick didn't work at all for the strap button in my Squier J, the thing started stripping out again after a couple week. Taking advice from the comments here last time and tried MORE toothpick and WOOD glue this time, hopefully it'll be less brittle and hold for some years rather than some days!
