Coming late fall... I'm revisiting my rust encapsulating paint testing due to some requests for more information. Rustoleum, POR-15, POR-15 w/topcoat, KBS, Eastwood Rust Encapsulator Platinum, Bill Hirsch Miracle Paint, Mastercoat, and Raptor Liner.

Testing will include:
Corrosion resistance
UV resistance
Adhesion
Chip resistance
Flexibility

I'm hoping to give you a more thorough picture of how each product ACTUALLY preforms. There is only 1 problem, all this testing takes lots of time. Stay tuned...

Hey, I just wanted to take a minute to say thanks to all of you. The channel crossed 100,000 subscribers today. I never in my wildest dreams thought that this channel would ever be this large. I remember my girlfriend (now wife) and I having a conversation about 5 years ago when I had just crossed 100 subscribers. She asked me how large did I think this channel would become? My answer: 5 maybe 10,000 subscribers. My wildest expectation starting out was 10,000. I remember this vividly. Thanks for making the channel 10x larger than my WILDEST expectation.

Iā€™m just glad everyone is finding the content useful. Iā€™ve uploaded 113 videos total. That is the other thing that Iā€™m super proud of. Not many channels cross 100,000 subscribers only uploading 113 videos. I would say over half of the things that I record on this channel are just projects that I have going on personally, and if the camera wasnā€™t on, I would be doing the exact same thing out in my shop. So, Iā€™m glad you all are watching.

The larger the channel gets the more intimating it becomes for me. Think about it, what project could you shoot a video on that 100,000 people would find interesting? I just go out and shoot content that I would watch myself because if I wouldnā€™t watch it, why would anyone else? Iā€™ve kept that same mentality over the past 5 years, only record useful content and be no frills. I talk to the camera how I would actually talk to a person because thatā€™s really what Iā€™m doing. I talk to 1-person 1000ā€™s of times.

I was never creating content to ā€œmake itā€ or ā€œbe somebodyā€ I just wanted a cheap hobby and recording what I was doing seemed like a natural progression to the projects that I was going to do anyways. I started out recording with my cell phone and editing on my wifeā€™s old laptop from college. Iā€™ve upgraded my equipment but at the end of the day, Iā€™m just a guy out in a garage like a lot of you. So, thank you for everything that you have done for me. If there is someoneā€™s channel that you like subscribe to them. It will help them more than you would realize. Iā€™ve had a lot of opportunities presented to me because of this platform and I owe that to you. So again, thanks for watching I really appreciate it.

So, because of the continued interest in lanolin/oil undercoatings I've created a Facebook Group. My goal here is to hopefully help you make informed decisions regarding products, procedures and maintenance of these coatings. This channel has grown beyond my wildest expectations and because of that I'm starting to struggle with keeping up with questions, comments, recommendations, etc. I'm hoping to try to build a community here where guys are helping one another and sharing their results.

Made it to Laguna Seca from Akron Ohio for my track day. It's a sea of Porsche's and BMW's. Weirdly, I'm the only guy in a Mustang so far and the only guy with out of state license plates that I've seen. Hoping today goes well... šŸ¤ž

I need a favor from you. As some of you are aware I'm getting married early next month. The following 3 weeks I'm going to be spending doing a cross country road trip with my wife. In total it's 106 hours in the car over 3 weeks. What I need are suggestions for podcasts for us to listen to. My wife strangely doesn't want to listen to my Metallica playlist on Spotify for 106 hours... (Weird I know...) If you have a podcast or something that you recommend that we listen to on the drive that you like drop it down in the comments. It doesn't have to be automotive related. Let us know what you think is worth listening to. Also if you have any suggestions of things to see that are CLOSE (within 30 miles) to our route in the picture let us know! Click the picture and you can make it bigger. Thanks for all the support!

Also, I hope to have a couple videos uploaded that I will schedule to turn on when we are out on the road so you guys have some content. I'm not going to have computer access for 3 weeks so my responses to any emails or comments in that time might be limited for a couple of weeks.

Just a quick note on upcoming uploads... Starting tomorrow, you will be seeing a lot of Fox/SN95 Mustang content in the coming weeks. If that's not your thing I apologize. I've been preparing the car over the past couple of months starting with the undercarriage paint job that you have seen as well as the addition of some parts that you will be seeing in upcoming uploads for something pretty epic. It's going to be a bucket list type of experience. I will be sharing this with you all this fall. This trip is going to make Hot Rod Power Tour look like a trip to the grocery store so, the car needs to be ready. Hence, the Mustang heavy content coming up. Once the car is ready, I'll get back to more normal (for me) type uploads. Thanks for watching!

I just wanted to take a second to say THANK YOU! This channel just crossed 50,000 subscribers late last night and I have you guys to thank for that. If people were not watching the videos I doubt I would still be making them after 4.5 years. With that said I do have a question.

What do YOU want to see?
Product comparison videos (Give me ideas but, I don't want to be known as a just a Project Farm clone)
Repair videos
Product reviews
Mustang/2.8 Duramax Content

This channel really started out with myself just recording what I was doing out in my garage. I just thought it would be cool to have a video log of some of the things that I was doing out in my shop. I never really expected people to watch what I was doing, let alone follow the channel. I try to keep that same mentality today. I mostly do what interests myself and I guess you have the same interests. It's hard to shoot videos on a topic that you're not interested in yourself if that makes sense. This is why I don't really upload on one consistent topic. My uploads are mostly what I have going on at any given time.

To anyone that has ever thought about shooting youtube videos, TRY IT! I never anticipated having any great success but, you don't know unless you try. I remember having a conversation with my girlfriend (now fiancƩe) about this time 4 years ago when I had 100 subscribers. She asked me how large did I think this channel would become? My response: 5,000 maybe 10,000 subscribers. At this point I'm literally 5x larger than my WILDEST expectation. I'm not saying everyone will become a great success on Youtube but, if you don't try, you will never know. I'd rather know that I tried and failed than wonder what if for the rest of my life. That's just me.

Best pieces of advice that I can give you making videos is:
-Buy a tripod and use your cell phone to make videos starting out. Watch some YT videos on editing and get a used laptop. That's the equipment that I used for over a year until I had 1000 subscribers and was monetized. Focus on content, not equipment.
-Create an alias. 99.9% of people are perfectly fine and will respect your privacy. It's that .1% that doesn't need to know your full name, where you live, your phone # etc. If I don't want you to find me, you will struggle to find me.
-Make content that YOU would be willing to watch. Chances are if you wouldn't watch it, neither will anyone else.

Thanks for everything,
-Andrew

If anyone is looking for a good DIY scan tool, the Bluedriver is on sale today on Amazon. amzn.to/3lPqYuX Regular price is $120 on sale today for $70. I shot a video on the capabilities of the Bluedriver a couple years ago. I've owned one for 6 years now and I still get free updates for it. I highly recommend it.

Dad did some work with his 2.8 Duramax today. Bought a new tractor. Tractor and trailer combined weighed 4500lbs. Thats without our gear and what we weighed. Drove from Pittsburgh to West of Cleveland. 17 mpg running 65-70mph. 92-96 degree ambient temperatures. Transmission temperatures ran about 200-210. Ran great.
