QUE VIVA ESPAÑA!!!

Going to wear my favourite Spanish fragrance to work tomorrow in celebration of the Eurocopa win.

Loewe 7 Cobalt is a fresh and blue fragrance that uses tart black currant berry in place of citruses. With base notes of pepper and incense, this fragrance is a really interesting addition to an immensely popular genre. An excellent alternative to things like Bleu de Chanel.

It's not just tortillas and Mahou here in Madrid - sometimes you also come across vintage versions of innovative perfumes like Jazz by YSL.

Truly the aromatic fougere to end them all, Jazz is a spicy, aromatic, balsamic and soapy masterpiece. No more and no less.

So then, what separates this one from the crowd?

Well, you'll just have to watch my full review to find out.

First day at the new job today, and I wanted to wear something professional and substantial without coming off as pretentious or daring - Dior Eau Sauvage Parfum was the natural choice.

Resinous, warm elemi with lemon, soapy vetiver and a touch of incense combine to make this absolute masterpiece of a fragrance. This is an essential "professional" fragrance for any collector.

¡¡¡Vaya, qué hallazgo!!!

¡¡¡What a find!!!

Labdanum, Ládano, Spanish Rock Rose...

This has to be the coolest fragrance-related discovery I have ever been blessed with in nature.

Hiking through the foothills of the Sierra de Guadarrama mountain range north of Madrid this morning, and I came across an entire hillside that was dotted with Labdanum bushes.

As if the views weren't already intoxicating enough, the smell of rich, leathery, musky incense filled the air around us and added a layer of exhilaration to the journey that is hard to put into words.

**Update**

Dry, soft suede against a backdrop of creamy benzoin, charred wood and a dash of oud for good measure.

Leave it to Aurelien Guichard's masterful talents to create a fragrance that smells like leather and suede without actually containing the notes themselves.

**In my recent review of this incredible fragrance, I noted that the performance wasn't very strong. After maturing for several weeks, I'm pleased to report that the performance has increased by a surprising amount.

I normally carry bottles in my jacket pocket so I can re-apply throughout the night as needed, but tonight, it wasn't needed**

Loewe 7 Anónimo.

Something of a hidden gem from one of Spain's many criminally underrated designer brands.

The most prominent notes to my nose are smoky incense, dry vetiver and spicy black pepper.

This is dry, serious; professional.

Couldn't think of a more appropriate scent to wear to a meeting in the Spanish capital this morning.

¿Qué lleváis puesto hoy?

What are you all wearing today?

Swiss Arabian - Oud Maktum

From their Sawalef line, Swiss Arabian's Oud Maktum uses different varieties of oud that create a well-balanced representation of the note.

Boozy amber and dried fruits give way to some sour, smoky wood in order to give the wearer a simultaneous exposure to facets of oud from both India and Cambodia - two of the world's primary sources of the rare ingredient.

This stuff is next level - definitely one of my best acquisitions of 2023.

Hope you'll check out my full review of this beauty in a few days!

Chopard's Oud Malaki:

Another example of a fragrance whose name is misleading, but manages to be a profoundly grand representation of a completely different note profile.

Despite the name, this masterpiece is built on a base of sweet tobacco, warm cardamom, spicy saffron and camphoric honey, with supporting roles played by woods and a touch of smoke.

Truly a designer product that punches far above its weight class in terms of quality, uniqueness and price point.

Not for the inexperienced, this gem is sure to satisfy those experienced collectors with a penchant for all things spicy, camphoric and tobacco.
