As you probably know, the Sydney Metro City Extension is opening on Monday 19 August.
First train on the new extension will be the 4:54am from Sydenham. First train from Chatswood is 5:16am (4:38am from Tallawong).
I'll be at Sydenham bright and early to catch the first train, and will probably stick around to midday.
If you're planning to be on the first train, let me know in the comments!

Hi everyone,
As I'm sure you're aware, the Sydney Metro City Extension is not opening on Sunday, so I won't be getting up at 4am on this day now!
So in lieu of an opening day video, I'm thinking of doing a Sydney Metro Q&A video instead. But to do that, I need your questions, and ideally lots of them!
So, please let me know your questions below, and if I have enough of them, I'll do a video. Otherwise, I'll respond to them via this post. And there is no such thing as a silly question, so ask away!
Looking forward to hearing your questions and testing my knowledge of Sydney Metro in Hard Quiz style!

My apologies for the hiatus, but I'm now back refreshed, revitalised and with a new video coming early next week. And its a collab with Sharath @BuildingBeautifully. We travelled to each new metro station using existing public transport to find out how much quicker the new Sydney Metro extension will be when it opens on 4 August. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did filming it!

Hi everyone,
I'm now back in Sydney, following a wonderful time in the UK. I spent a couple of days on the Elizabeth Line which was very enjoyable, but there were a few things that Sydney Metro does better, so that might be the subject of a future video!
I visited all the new Sydney Metro stations last week, and the black hoarding boards are still up at Gadigal, and lots of public domain work is happening at the Victoria Cross southern entrance, so I reckon opening is still at least a month away.
My next video will be on the Sydney Metro Train Testing which is now happening on most days (but not everyday, as I discovered when I tried to film on Thursday last week!). I had better luck on the Friday, and filmed quite a few train movements within Trains Facility South, including use of the Eastern and Western Bypass tracks. I'm going to continue filming this next week, and hope to have this video ready by early July.
One thing I noticed is that the off-peak weekday frequency on Metro Northwest (and for test trains) is now every 7 minutes, so that's probably what we'll see when the extension opens. The full peak 4 minute service is now being tested, and its worth going to Sydenham or Chatswood to see that in action!
As the latter part of this year is going to be very busy for me with the opening of both the Sydney Metro City Extension, and Parramatta Light Rail, I'm planning to take things a little easy during July, but hope to do one or two short videos, especially when the opening date is announced!
So stay safe, keep dry and look out for my next video in early July.

Hi everyone.
If you went to the Crows Nest Station Community Open Day last Sunday, I hope you had a wonderful time.
And if you missed it, then here is a great video by Sean @transportforsydneyvlogs7258. It will give you a wonderful inside view of this fabulous new station, including the 2 entrances, escalators, lifts, concourse and platforms.
All is going well with my UK travels so far. Already discovered two new rail lines that have opened since I was last there in 2017!

Unfortunately, I won't be at this one, as I'll be in the UK for a few weeks. This also means that Transport Vlog will have some gaps in service, especially during June, but most importantly, I'll be back in time for the opening of the Sydney Metro City & Southwest extension, and Parramatta Light Rail too!
Hope you enjoy seeing Crows Nest Metro Station for real, and I look forward to watching other people's videos of this day on YouTube!

Hi everyone,
This is a message to anyone that is attending the Martin Place Open Day today.
I've gone down with significant cold and flu symptoms overnight, including a nasty cough which is not going to be pleasant for other people to see or hear.
Also Sydney Metro do ask people to refrain from attending if they have cold or flu (or Covid) symptoms, so I'm going to do the right thing and stay at home.
Anyway, if you're going along, enjoy the day. I'm sure it will be wonderful, and I'm looking forward to seeing the videos from other YouTubers that are attending today.

The Parramatta Metro Station Construction site is opening its doors to the public on Sunday 21st April.
It will include a walk into the station box, equivalent to about 10 flights of stairs! You'll also be able to view the archeological artefacts that have been found so far.
Tours will run regularly from 10am to 3:30pm, and it's free, but you do need to book a space in advance, via the link below.
