Hi everyone. It breaks my heart to say that after living with breast cancer for the last 3 years, my mom passed away a few days ago surrounded by loved ones. She fought until the very end. For anyone who enjoyed the videos with MamaDoesThings where we goofed off together on the channel, know that she loved reading your comments, and was always so excited seeing how much you liked hearing her voice and commentary. You cheered her days up considerably and I am incredibly grateful for that.
In honor of my mom’s service in the healthcare industry and to aid other families affected by breast cancer, my family is aiming to establish a memorial dedicated to her at the hospital she worked at, as well as make a contribution to the cancer institute where she received treatment. My mom was so special to me in that we always loved sharing our favorite shows, movies, music, and books with one another; she’d always be the first one I’d show the newest thing I was excited about to. Whether it was Star Wars, K-pop, comic books, or romance novels, some of my most precious memories with my mom are of us discussing media at the breakfast table each morning.
She was the one who always encouraged my imagination and creativity to grow, and I owe so much of who I am today to her. A big reason why I started making videos with her in the first place was that I honestly didn’t know how much time she’d have, and I wanted her to be part of my work and passion online.
You may have noticed my videos have been a bit sporadic this year. Outside of YouTube, I haven’t been super online in the past few months due to her health declining; as one of her caregivers I wanted to spend as much time as possible with her. I wish more than anything we could’ve had more, and i’ll always wish she was here whenever something new pops up that I want her to see, but I’m so happy we were able to have that time together. She was a constant pillar of support, and if I can be even half as strong and vibrant as she was, then I can live my life proudly.
In regards to videos: please bear with me as uploads may be a little unpredictable for the next few weeks. I’ll continue to post content I’ve already filmed and have been previously working on, and will start filming new stuff after taking some time to process everything. I know I don’t have to worry much as you guys are literally the best community I could have hoped for, but I do want to let you know what’s going on as well as continue working, even if it’s just a little bit at a time, as keeping busy helps me keep moving forward. Grief is the price we pay for love, and i’ll be working through mine for the rest of my life. Having her in my life for 27 years is something i'll be forever thankful for.

In Vietnam, we’ll learn about the art of making silk, participate in a calligraphy and lacquer painting class, visit art museums, cook some delicious traditional cuisine, and have a tea ceremony🍵
In Bali, we’ll hang out with local artists, learn about traditional dyes and tattoos, visit a water temple and an iconic cafe, chill on sandy beaches, and create Balinese offerings for the island🪷

Your aid is greatly appreciated as, alas, I am but one chronically online person in a sea of ever-growing fanbases🥲 Feel free to leave suggestions as to what types of fans in each fandom should be included, any specific jokes/memes, popular headcanons/fanon, ships, lore/theories, etc. I wanna make sure I do these videos justice and would like to consult the experts (you guys!!!) after all. I'm super excited to bring this series back and give it a refresh! Due to also working on other types of vids, like fan culture info dumps and (in)famous fanfiction deep dives, I unfortunately do not have as much time as I used to go towards "entering the fandom like" research and, again, I wanna do these right and not half-assed👏 With your help we're gonna make it happen!
Being totally honest, I took a break from these videos mainly because: 1) with all the fandoms out there, the constant flow of fandom news/content and consequently the pressure to create and keep up with it all, inevitably became too overwhelming and burnt me out. 2) I became so anxious about portraying all the different characters/archetypes in each skit correctly and in such a way that was both parody and true to heart, that I ended up hitting a big creative block with them. 3) I wanted to focus on branching out into other types of videos and figure out how to balance both short and long form content sustainably. So, I decided to put a pause on the "entering the fandom like" skits for a while until I felt comfortable revisiting them.
Lately i've been itching to start making them again, and have reached a point where I feel ready and confident to come back to them!! At my own pace of course🥴 Thank you to everyone who has been patiently waiting and offered their support over the years; you're fantastic and I appreciate you so, so much for keeping this community thriving and expressing interest in my silly content.

Yup, it’s official…i’m gonna start hosting “Fanfiction Writers' Room” sessions on livestreams!!!😆
Streams will consist of:
- Brainstorming fic prompts together
- Bouncing and workshopping story ideas off of each other
- Whipping up drabbles and fic snippets
- Text adventuresque collaborative writing
- Sharing our works with one another
- And more!
The first stream will likely be next week or the week after! The schedule is still pending, but I’m thinking of doing Saturday afternoons PST as well as a day during the week when I can manage it. Maybe Tuesdays or Wednesdays? I’ll post a video solidifying it sometime next week, so stay tuned!😎

I’ve been wanting to dip my toes back into regular livestreaming for a while now, as well as return to writing since I have a looooot of original stuff I’d like to get out into the world sooner than later. Sadly, I got weirdly anxious about both streaming and writing a few years ago, but I think this is gonna be an excellent way to push past the nerves and have fun with you guys!! I’m really excited to get the ball rolling with this and hang out with everyone🥹
Fanfic has always been a labor of love written and enjoyed by fans for other fans. And with AI unfortunately becoming more and more prevalent in fanfic spaces, I wanted to also have this be an opportunity to build a community space where writers and readers alike can work together, help one another, and inspire each other to create!
